Gin Branch Cemetery was formerly considered a "wilderness" cemetery, as it is located in a very remote (agricultural) part of Orangeburg County, South Carolina.  This cemetery had, unfortunately, become severely overgrown during the last several years.  Through the dedication of the Major Morgan/Hart's Battery Camp #1674, Sons of Confederate Veterans from Springfield, SC, Gin Branch Cemetery is now being restored to its once stately condition.
Many Confederate Veterans are now resting at Gin Branch, including my great-grandfather, Martin Jackson Yon.  My brother, Jimmy Lee, and I volunteered to help the Major Morgan/Hart's Battery Camp in their efforts, and it has been our privilege and honor to assist them with their restoration project of this grand old cemetery.
I have cataloged each grave located at Gin Branch, and now recorded those records at the Find-A-Grave website.  Please be sure to check back often and watch our progress as we continue our restoration project.
